Partials (Partials #1) by Dan Wells
My Thoughts: Partials was another great fit for me. I seem to pick only awesome books these days, and I am very, very happy about this string of good luck. Partials is written by an author I really like, Dan Wells. His John Cleaver series is a huge favorite of mine, and it was no question that I have to read Partials, too. :) Plus, I'm a huge Terminator - movies and series - fan. So when I heard that the partials are some kind of robots, I was like: 'Give it to me!' and 'I have to have this!'.
The post apocalyptic/post Partial Wars world that Dan Wells created was very interesting and engrossing. It was complicated, but still easy to understand. And the plot was very followable. There was a little too much politics for my taste, when I just wanted more Kira&Samm moments. But oh well, at least everything made sense! That's one huge + in my book.
There was this huge humans vs. partials war. Partials won, naturally. You just can't win against an army of robots. The remaining humans are now living in Long Island, while the Partials are still on the main land. And there was also some kind of biological attack, called RM, and because of that all the newborn babies are uncapable of living. In short, humanity is now on the verge of exctincion. Oh, and there is this Hope Act going on, which means everyone over the age of 18 has to get pregnant. Pretty sick if you ask me.This book had many laugh-out-loud moments, also many weighty ones.
I am stronger than my trials.
The characters were hyper super fantastic, very real and three dimensional. I was like 'Oh, I like this guy', then some pages later 'Hate him', then 'Hmm, he is not that bad', and vice versa. It was fun :) For instance, Marcus, Kira's boyfriend was a real clown, and I liked him very much, most of the time...

And Samm, The partial was just fantastic. But I want to know more about him. Hopefully I'll in the next book.
I was a little wary to start this book, because Kira is a nurse and there are babies borning *yuck* and dying (!) in this book, and I was afraid how real or you know gross it's going to be. But I'm glad I didn't let myself scared off by some blood.
I've listened to the audiobook of Partials, it was very well done, and added quite a bit to my enjoyment.
I can't wait to read the next book, Fragments. Only 6 more months to go....

Title: Partials
Series: Partials #1
Author: Dan Wells
Blurb from Goodreads:
Humanity is all but extinguished after a war with partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the world’s population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island. The threat of the partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to the disease in over a decade. Humanity’s time is running out.
When sixteen-year-old Kira learns of her best friend’s pregnancy, she’s determined to find a solution. Then one rash decision forces Kira to flee her community with the unlikeliest of allies. As she tries desperately to save what is left of her race, she discovers that the survival of both humans and partials rests in her attempts to answer questions of the war’s origin that she never knew to ask.
