Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My Thoughts: Did you like the Twilight books? Are you still liking them? I did (and I'm not ashamed to admit it), and I also enjoyed Obsidian.
Daemon would be really mad, if I compare him to a certain sparkling vampire. Because first, he's not a vampire, but an alien. And second, he's anything, but sweet and sparkly. He's more prickly than sparkly. As he's kind of a prick. A very fine looking prick. *points to the cover*
Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys.
But we all know, brooding/moody bad guys are hot, and he even had his reasons.
Okay, let's ingore Daemon's wounded pride, and admit that those two books have a lot in common. But as I have said above I liked Twilight, and I liked this one as well. I, in general, like books about romance between different species, and this one has many great characters, both human and alien.
I've heard many yummy things about Daemon before reading Obsidian, and he was exactly how I expected him to be, a gorgeous dick. :P
Katy was funny, and I'm totally approving her hobbies (book blogging!). I have never before read about a heroine, who was also a book blogger. I loved this little detail.
And Daemon's little sister, Dee is such a bubble a sunshine. You couldn't help, but like her. I totally understood why Katy wanted to be her friend.
The title and cover were both great choices. I love the greenish tone of the cover (oh, those eyes!) and you can't go wrong with gemstone names. We girls love our jewelry. :)
The good writing and the fast moving plot made Obsidian absolutely entertaining. I love reading about aliens, and Daemon's kind is truly fascinating. I can't wait to learn more about them in the next book(s). There was no cliffhanger in the end. But it's also not HEA, so it's a good thing that the next book, Onyx is almost out, as I can't wait to devour it.
Title: Obsidian
Series: Lux #1
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Blurb from Goodreads:
Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

Haha I have no doubt that Daemon would hate being compared to Edward, but I liked how you opened your review. I think this may be my favorite series ever. JLA is made of awesome!
